‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the town

All the buyers were searching and driving ‘round

The listing signs were hung in the lawns with care

In hopes that buyers soon would be there

The pre-approvals were nestled all snug in their pockets

While visions of closing day exploded like rockets

The clients in my car and I turning around

Had just settled our brains, with no good inventory to befound

When out on the lawn we heard such a clatter

I pulled over the car to see what was the matter

Away to the curb I flew like a flash

Tore open the door and ruined my sash

The sun shone bright off the new fallen snow,

Gave a shimmering luster to the objects below

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But an open house sign, and eight tiny spotted deer

With a little listing agent, so lively and quick

I knew in a moment that his name was Nick

More rapid than eagles other buyers came

And Nick whistled, and shouted, and call’d out to them

New Washer! New Dryer! New stainless steel oven!

New Furnace! New Fridge! And they all need lovin’!

They’ve replaced the porch! And built a new retaining wall!

“Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”

My buyers fell in love with the beautiful house

So I got start working, busy as a mouse

Typing away my fingers they flew

Answering emails full of questions, and I called Nick too

And when we noticed there was a new roof

Of the building permits, we found the proof

As I drew up an offer, we learned to be true

Nick had called for offers, and by tomorrow all were due

I was dress’d all in fur, from my head to my foot,

And my clothes were all tarnish’d with ashes and soot;

From working night and day, breaking my back

So that my buyers would have the best plan of attack

Their eyes - how they twinkled! Their dimples how merry,

Their cheeks were like roses, Their nose like a cherry;

We’d written an escalating offer with a low price to start

They wrote a personal letter, spoke right from the heart

The contingencies were few, and terms very strong

With a fabulous lender, the closing wasn’t long,

Nick presented our offer, and then my buyers paced,

I told them not to worry, but the buyer’s minds raced

Nick had the stump of a pipe held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.

He had a broad face, and a little round belly

That shook when he laugh’d, like a bowl full of jelly:

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laugh’d when I saw him in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

He spoke just a word, and I went straight to my phone,

Told the buyers what they’d hoped, they had a new home;

We got to the closing day with the best of ease

Having used Hillman Homes, the buyers were so pleased

They sprung to the door, to their Realtor gave a whistle,

And inside they flew, like the down of a thistle

But I heard them exclaim, as I drove out of sight-

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Hillman Homes!

Since 1989, Christmas in the City has brought holiday magic to children in need. Part of the magic is a go-all-out party for families living in shelters, complete with Winter Wonderland, an indoor amusement park with twenty great rides, pictures with Santa, and more. This year, they're opening up Winter Wonderland to the public for the first time - giving Boston-area families an opportunity to start a new holiday tradition and support a great cause.

All proceeds go to support the Christmas in the City party for families living in homeless shelters or transitional housing, and CITC's toy distribution for families in need.
